G Force inexpensive Chips?

Posted by colt at November 16. 2011

There is a company selling inexpensive $69.00 chips to fit TT's.

http://www.gfchips.com/

Has anyone tried one of these?

Thanks,

Jim in Colorado

As there are already threads on the gfchip, I'll give you the quick rundown:

A good chip is going to run you around $500.00, and you'll probably need to upgrade your turbo hose to prevent it from collapsing.

After considerable research, I found the following information on gforce chips (which it turns out are not even "chips") on another forum:

"Most of these chips are boxes with inline resistors which are soldered to your intake air temp sensor; all they do is trick it into thinking the air is colder so your ECU adds more timing. It will do more damage than good.

Yes, I think their own description confirms that approach:
"The GF module installs into your AUDI A4's engine bay and is connected via 2 wires that plug into the IAT sensor. . . . There is absolutely nothing else needed to have this installed on your vehicle."

No software. No "chip" (as in Integrated Circuit). Just a resistor! It's entirely deceptive of them to show an image of an IC in their advertising. You can go to Radio Shack and spend less than $1 to do this mod yourself. Why pay someone else $69 to mess up your engine, when you can do it so inexpensively?"
