Take care of your MK1, there won't be any more!
Up to Audi TT Forum
I just saw a photo on the Internet of a crashed MK1 coupe, and it suddenly dawned on me that all the MK1's that will ever be have already been made, and every day a few more bite the dust. So take care of yours. You own a little piece of history.

Hello,
I agree (by the way, I have just joined)...I went over to the Paris Motorshow in September 1998 to see the TT! I spent 40+ years in England and was very lucky to have owned 3 'ur' quattros over a 20 year period. The quattros dominated the Rally scene in the early '80s and every 'other' 4-wheel drive car evolved from that period.
I have always wanted a TT (family and stuff got in the way!) and, whilst the new TT is a great car, the original is timeless and, 10 years ago, was yet another great achievement by Audi. So, I bought a '05 TT Coupe and am absolutely thrilled with it...the 'smile by mile' factor is off the scale!
Accordingly, I was very shocked by all the negative comments on the club website, and elsewhere, about the timing belt fiasco...AoA must be a very different animal to it's Eurpoean counterpart-I always enjoyed exceptional after care. My TT has covered <>43K (I've done the last 1,000mls) and hasn't given any indication that it is anything other than a very 'solid' car. However, what are your thoughts on the TB issue? It's my intention to do the 'works' at 5 years or 60,000 miles...
I find it staggering, in the light of all the failures and resultant adverse PR, that AoA hasn't developed/specified an indestructable TB.
Have an enjoyable weekend.

well.... the 2005 3.2 has a chain... so no worries...
Hi...my TT is a 1.8L FWD Coupe so the TB issue is of real concern! However, I did test drive a 3.2 and WOW!!!
Loved it but realized it would take about 10 mins for me to banned from driving forever - and, in LA, I could never use or enjoy it to the full. Consequently, I bought it's less endowed sibling but I am a great believer in 'less is more' and I love the design.
What do you own and how have you found reliability over time? I think it is always down to preventive maintenance but you do have to have a mechanic who knows "what's what"!
Have a good weekend and safe motoring!
