HEY EVERYONE I THOUGHT I WOULD SHARE WHAT HAPPENED TO ME AFTER PURCHASING A 2004 TT ROADSTER FROM A PRIVATE OWNER. MY WIFE AND I TOOK THIS PRISTINE 3.2 QUATTRO S LINE WITH ONLY 30,000 MILES ON IT FOR A TEST DRIVE BEFORE PURCHASING. I NOTICED A VIBRATION AT AROUND 40MPH, BUT IT PRETTY MUCH DISAPPEARED AS THE SPEED INCREASED. EVERYTHING ELSE WAS GREAT. I ASKED THE OWNER ABOUT IT AND THEY ACTUALLY OFFERED TO HAVE IT CHECKED OUT BY THE DEALER, AS THEY SAID THEY HAD NEVER REALLY NOTICED IT. WELL I TOLD MYSELF THAT IT WAS PROBABLY A TIRE WEIGHT PROBLEM OR MAYBE IT NEEDED TO BE ALIGNED OR SOMETHING, ANYWAY WE PURCHASED THE CAR. AFTER THREE WEEKS THE CAR SUDDENLY STARTED VIBRATING SO MUCH I DID NOT THINK I WOULD MAKE IT HOME FROM WORK. I TOOK IT TO THE PLACE THAT I BUY TIRES FROM, BUT HE WAS SO BUSY HE COULD NOT PUT IT ON THE RACK TO CHECK IT OUT. HE DID HIS BEST LOOKING UNDER THE CAR TO SEE IF ANYTHING WAS OBVIOUS. DID NOT SEE ANYTHING. THE NEXT DAY I TOOK IT IN TO THE DEALER AND THEY FOUND THE PROBLEM. THEY SAID WE WERE LUCKY THAT SOMETHING SERIOUS DID'NT HAPPEN AND CAUSE AN ACCIDENT THAT COULD HAVE KILLED US. WHAT THEY FOUND WAS A BENT DRIVER SIDE 18IN ALLOY RIM AND THE FRONT PASSENGER TIRE HAD A BULGE IN THE SIDEWALL THE SIZE OF A SOFTBALL. AFTER SPENDING 700 BUCKS FOR A NEW RIM AND 4 TIRES AT 240 BUCKS EACH PLUS 180 DOLLARS TO ALIGN THE CAR, IT WAS FINALLY FIXED. ALL THIS TO SAY I DID NOT DO A GOOD JOB OF REALLY CHECKING THE CAR OUT BEFORE BUYING, AND IT COST ME BIG TIME AFTERWARDS. WE STILL REALLY LIKE THE CAR, BUT FEEL FOOLISH THAT I DID NOT DO A BETTER JOB EVALUATING THE CAR BEFORE PURCHASING. DON'T BE LIKE ME AND LET THE OUTWARD BEAUTY OF THE TT BLIND YOU FROM CHECKING THINGS OUT MORE COMPLETELY.
