Coupe vs. Convertible for someone 6'4"
Up to Audi TT Forum
Hello,
I’m in the market for a used TT, and I’m up in the air between a coupe or a convertible. I’m 6’4”, so I’m thinking I may not be comfortable in a convertible, because I assume the seats don’t lean back as far. But there is no back seat, so I’m not sure if the seats themselves go further back.
So, does the convertible sacrifice a lot of leg room and comfort for people over 6’4”?
I don’t see any TTs at any nearby dealerships, and I don’t like to waste peoples time, so I figured I would pose the question here and see what people say.
Thanks
Tom,
I am 6'5" with a 32" inseam and have a 2002 225 quattro convertible that I really love. I think you would fit in either car. I have traveled long distances comfortably in it. I do not lean the seat as far back as I do in some other cars and I still have plenty of head room with the top up. I did make one modification for comfort. I removed the aluminum brace (with the interior colored pad on it) on the drivers side that connects the dashboard to the center tunnel. It rubbed my leg and I am much more comfortable without it. It removes easily with 3 allen screws. I left the passenger side brace in and have not noticed any structural diffference over bumps or in corners. It is the most comfortable roadster I have been in. There were may sports cars I did not fit in at all.
I hope this helps, enjoy whatever car you decide on.
Syd

I'm 6' 3" and have owned several TT convertibles. My 2008 had a manual transmission and I moved the seat forward about an inch so I could fully depress the clutch pedal. My 2010 is an automatic and I keep the seat all of the way back and as low as it will go. I have plenty of of head room and leg room. I'm driving TTs because it's one of the few sports cars that I fit in without hitting my knees on the dash or touching the headliner when the top is up.
Thanks

I am 6'6" with a 36" and am driving a 2001 TT Roadster and am very comfortable in it. The roadster has more headroom than the coupe. Good luck
