I purchased an 01 about six months ago. I love it.  Make sure that the timing belt has been replaced.  This is critical.  Also, make sure that all fluids have been replaced on schedule. Finally there have been problems with the instrument cluster and MAF. These may have been replaced already.  Have a local trusted mechanic check it out.

Get the records.

Stating the obvious I know.

Good luck!

Just to let you know I sold my 02 TT Coupe (non-quattro) with 35K (no upgrades) for $11,000 in California. Honestly, it sounds kind of high for a car with that much mileage. But, it may be worth considering because of the mods. However, I'm one of those people who don't like to inherit other people's mods or mod mishaps. Good luck.

Yes, high. I bought an 01 in San Fran with 30K for 14. Yes, it was a good deal but they are out there. Ditto on timing belt AND instrument cluster. Brace yourself for adding some bucks. Surfing the forums, the early TT's are plagued with electronic issues.

ps. Check out Autotrader both private and dealer. There are some deals out there - especially if you are willing to get on a plane.
