Roof not closed -- indicator light
Up to Audi TT Forum
Hey there.. just started noticing that the indicator light on the dashboard stating that the roof is still not closed (and I've double checked) does not shut off?
It's intermittent and I'm having to tap the left and right hand side of the handle with my wrist to shut it off b/c it does not close the windows when it thinks the roof is not closed.
Help... ?

Hi Garnet -- sounds like your dampness and roof must be related. There are several "cuts" in the foam seal between the window and the roof, and one of the cuts essentially lines up right above the seat belt mount-point on the floor. Since you are having some issues with the roof indicator light, try dropping and raising the top again (if your battery is older, help it along by pulling gently on the handle as you raise the roof). Set eh roof handle and lock it. Then do the window reset thing (ignition on; windows full down, hold for ten count; windows full up, hold for ten count; hold up again for ten count). Good luck.
This is a common problem. First, I would try to clean the area around the microswitch that sets the top indicator light. If you search on the Audiworld forums, you will find a way to adjust this assembly to solve the problem. You can also have someone replace the microswitch - a relatively inexpensive repair.
yes this is posted a few times in the past, i added a piece of small square like spongy poster tape on it, then added black elec tape, it sux.,. but it works until i have to do it again,, its about thickening the lil piece of the sensor... otherwise its like a 350 Audi cost.. i just keep some foam tape around a lot.. coco
