Advice on TT I found.

Posted by David L Middleton at May 18. 2010

Hello,

I just joined. I found a nice blue 2004 1.8T Quatt for around $14,095- 84,445mi at a HONDA dealership. I am testing it out today and already learned thatr it's never had damage but was a fleet car. Any advice? Suggestions? I want to talk him down to maybe approx $13,000. Thanks alot!

Being fleet, you're likely to get a vehicle that has maintenance records. My 2002 Roadster 225 was a corporate handout vehicle for visiting higher ups and was serviced at Audi of Newport, one of the best in California. I was very luck to have had good records.

Check to see if the timing belt and pulley has been changed (very important). See if the gas gauge works and the center information display on the gauge cluster is working without issue. Check the CV boots and look for tears. Are all the spare items with it? (I.E. the boot cover (if it's a convertible), jack, and cover lids for the storage behind the seats. Check the wear on the tires to tell if the alignment is off. Test drive it and see if it shifts right and you can hear the turbo. If it's a convertible, check the condition of the bonding between the rear window and the cloth top.

If you can, have it professionally inspected. Anything that is amiss can knock the buying price down.
