Winter Tire Opinions

I have a 2005 3.2 S type and bought some 17 inch MSW Type 16 Black with a red stripe (my TT is bright red) and they look great as well as quite unique. You can see them on your car at TireRack.com They are only about $100 a corner and I put Hankook Icebear tires on them. I previously had Perilli Ice tires that didn't wear well but these seem to give the same incredible traction in snow and ice and I am told will they last longer. I live in Colorado and use my TT to get me to the ski areas and back in some terrible weather. I have had lots of 4 wheel drive vehicles, but this combination is by far the best I have ever experienced. Sometimes the trip up and back is better than the skiing!
You do need to be careful which wheels you purchase as many will not fit on your TT due to the large breaks. The Tire Rack is a great source of information on what will fit. Many local dealers buy thier tires and wheels from them at a bigger discount and resell them to you. I was happy to use my local dealer and still get Tire Rack prices.

I own a 2010 TT roadster with 19" wheels and high performance tires. My wife drives the car. These tires are killers in snow or when driven when temps are less than 32 degrees. I've owned a set of Blizzak tires for the last two TTs I purchased and install these tires on the car in November while the weather is still pretty nice. They were purchased from Tire Rack with the least expensive alloy wheels. My wife does not care about performance and does not really notice the difference when the tires are switched. To me, the car goes from a nice sports car ride to a Honda Accord ride with the Blizzak 55s. What is also immediately apparrent is the traction. You could install a snow plow blade on the car and plow roads with those tires on the car. The grip is outstanding and you feel very safe. I can't wait for mid April when they will come off and the HPTs go back on, but I recommend them highly.
