I bought a used 2005 TT Quattro and was very excited about the all wheel drive, however right now my tires are less than impressive.  I have always driven a front wheel drive and never had any problems but I had a hard time getting around yesterday in an inch of snow.  I live in Southeastern Ohio and it is very snowy, hilly, and they don't take very good care of the roads here most of the time either.  I am currently shopping for snow tires and was hoping someone could give me some opinions on what goes the best.  I have different rims that I run in the summer so I want the "baddest" tire I can get for winter use.  I would really appreciate any opinions. 

I use Dunlop winter sports. I have different wheels for summer and winter. I have 18" OEM wheels in summer time with Pirelli Zeros. Winter time comes and I mount my 16 inch winter wheels with the Dunlops. My TT is like a tank in the winter. This winter in PA has been snowy. I will need a new set for next winter and am looking at blizzaks. So I will be interested to see what others are using too.

My husband is helping me look around and we are waiting to see what comments I get, I don't know if it makes a difference or not but my wheels are 18" and my car is the S-line and the brakes are huge on it and we aren't sure we could fit a smaller rim or not.  Do you know?  I have saw other comments about people running those blizzaks so they must do well.  I am curious to see what other comments I get too...

Oh and let me add it is good to know that yours goes like a tank in the winter, I was getting pretty disappointed so I am happy to know that tires are gonna make all the difference!

My front brake rotor is huge as well. The 16 inch wheels are fine though the speedometer is likely off a bit now. The 18 inch wheels I have are super low profile and wide. It's better to have a thinner tire to cut into the snow. A good place to check out winter tire packages is at www.tirerack.com

Thay have plenty of reviews and can help you pick wheels and tire sizes. I usually get a mailer telling me the benefits of winter tires and how to make decisions from them every November. I'm sure you can find all that info on their site.
