Help me please

Posted by jason Hamond at August 29. 2010
I need help my I am trying to help someone I know sell their 2001 Audi Quattro TT. He has some idea of its worth but I have none. I am looking for some advice on how much I should list it for. He doesn't want to sell it but has too and I want to make sure we are going to sell it at a realistic price and not a sentimental price. Here is what I know:
2001 Audi Quattro TT convertible.
New 15 inch tires.
1.8Lt. 225hp.
46,000 miles
like new condition.
I believe it's a forest green type color with a black top.
Leather interior.
Bose sound system.
In a word "beautiful"

I was thinking about $14,000 is this to much or not enough?
Any help you could give me would be great.

Thank you
Jason

Look up the going prices on Edmunds.com or Kelly Blue book web site.  You sure about those 15" tires?  Almost all came with 16".

Even with the low miles, $10k is pushing it. I bought my 01 TT for $7400 in a sellers market, with 130k miles. Mine is (1) 180hp, (2) a coupe, and (3) had new 17 inch tires. $10k is really pushing it for something about to need a timing belt change, and something thats as old as 01. I would say $8500 is reasonable, would probably sell in around a month, $9000 will sell but will take some time, and $10k will sell only if you get really lucky. $14k is totally not gonna sell, you could buy an 02 from a dealer for that, probably even an 03.

Honestly, I think $14,000 is a little high... maybe peaking into sentimental pricing.

I did alot of research before purchasing mine (a little over a week ago).

2001 TT 225 roadster with 49,000 miles... all were selling for around $15,000 in the Washington DC metro area at dealerships with warranties.
This car was fully loaded and in great shape...

The color might turn off some people, but personally $12,500 OBO seems very reasonable. John Henry Harris above brings up a good point about perks of a dealer, but his $7400 purchase had nearly 3x the miles, lower HP engine, and a coupe opposed to a roadster.

I'd say price at $12,500 and see... the worst that happens is no one calls within the first week or so, and he lowers the price.

I agree with the others, that's too high.

I just bought my silver 2001 TT Quattro 225 in June here in Nashville for $7200. It had 114K and new tires on the 17" premium stock wheels. It's a very clean car and included an awesome Pioneer sound system with sub, dual amps and enclosure. I did the timing belt and had the gauges refurbed, but that only cost $1,050 and now it's pretty much perfect.
