Cambelt Change Due?

Posted by kevin pritch at August 26. 2010

I was thinking of buying a tt quattro 225 bhp it is 2001 and has 107000 and was wondering

if it has been changed (im guessing it should have) when would the next one be?

is it certain miles or time or both?  thanx for any answers :)

original timing belt change was 100k but audi changed it to 75k is no records are to be had change audi usa and ask them if your car had been part of the timingbelt recall they will ask you for your vin # it just may show where your car had been serviced by a dealer. if you ever take your car to a dealer they even may charge you a buck to load your info into their system to keep records

if none of that works (maybe two phone calls) then I would have it checked they will be able to tell by the belt condition alone left hand side of valve cover on a 1.8t has plastic cover

L8R.....

Irrespective of what the manual says, unless you are covered under the recall, change the timing belt and water pump every 5 years of 60K miles, whichever comes first.  You can search this forum for many sad stories of folks who did not follow this advice.
