New Poll: Manual or Automatic?
Up to Audi TT Forum
Not to knock Audi but after owning a 2002 S4 I was only happy with that pickup truck-like 6 spd. after put a short shift kit on that sucker. Don't get me wrong, 95% of the rest of that car was awesome (especially after the Milltek downpipe/cat & 3" exhaust, K03 turbos, MTM chip & ECU, H & R coilovers, driveline stabilizer & Stoptech rotors. 360 + HP & 385 + lb. ft.
BUT...I'm almost equally happy with my stock (for now) 05' 3.2 DSG S-Line. It's rarely driven in anything other than full manual mode with ESP switched off & is faster on the up shifts than I could (almost) ever attempt & that beautiful little blip of the throttle on downshifts makes lovely sounds.
I'm concerned about the supposed max torque issues with seriuos engine mods over 250-260 lb. ft. of torque so the jury is out until....?
I have an 05 DSG s-line TT and I have not notced much difference with ESP off except less ability to hold a hard turn on a bad road surface... like gravel or water.
From what I was told, (& from what I've noticed) under accelleration it speeds up upshifts & seems to make them a little crisper. On a dry road it makes holding hard turns easier because the ESP is not kicking in infringing on throttle input & yes, on wet gravely roads you can really dance the rear end around quite a bit.
