Okay - the RTV didn't hold, but I used JB Weld and glued on a small plastic piece of about 1/8" thick material onto the switch striker in the windshield top where the hook engages.  I think those switch strikers start to loosen up and it takes more travel before it electrically clicks.  The JB weld is holding fine. Eventually will probably want to replace the switch.

There's a more-involved-than-necessary setup for this switch, with a cast alloy lever inside the top locator which reaches inside the socket assembly to work the spring-steel lever on a microswitch. To access, take the two screws out of the visor mounts on the driver's side and gently pry the trim away from the left edge. Here's the tip of the day? DO NOT try to bend the operating finger on the lever, as it's made of (aluminum?) something that doesn't bend. It just breaks, and doesn't leave enough meat to do a simple repair.

As mentioned by others, the first thing to check, before opening things up, is to see if moving the lever further will be enough to trip the microswitch. You may need a small knife blade to reach between the latch roller and the lever face to operate it. If the lever only needs to be moved further, use some firm vinyl tubing about ¼" diameter, and slip a piece of it over the end of the latch finger on the top's locking arm so it sticks out further. If this doesn't work, remove the header trim on the windshield frame out of the way, and see if working the spring-steel actuating lever with a small screwdriver will work the microswitch. If so, use some shim stock and glue (JB KWIK Weld is a good choice) to build-up the thickness of the bottom of the actuating lever. There do not seem to be any adjustments on the microswitch's mount available, and the whole assembly of the socket, lever and switch costs about $125. There are two good-sized Torx capscrews that attach the assembly to the windshield frame. Note that there is an indicator notch on the inboard edge of the receiver, and tiny markings on the frame for installation adjustment. The plug for the microswitch is just barely under the windshield frame post trim on the left, and should be accessible with needlenose pliers. It has no capture latch on it, and merely plugs together.

Thake a piece of iron 1 mm and glue it with super glue on the little rocker tab that clicks. and your problem is over, and verry cheap.

Good luck, GJ from holland
