SO A friend sent me a link to a bunch of into about the Bugatti Veyron...

The fastest production car in the world with a w16 (no, not a V, a W) engine, four turbos, and 1001 hp.
0-60 in 2.48 seconds.

Anyhow... come to find out it runs a 7 speed DSG transmission... made by VW/Audi.

and in the video showing the autobahn test drive, the reviewer is commenting on how smooth and stable the car is, even at 200mph plus speeds, at how you just push down the pedal and the car executes perfect shifts for you...

He says its so smooth, " its like driving a really fast TT"...

Downside? At its flat out 250 mph speed, the tires will last 18 minutes... but that's okay, because a full tank will be empty in 12.

well... that and the $1.3 million sticker...

Update:

New DSG mechatronics unit installed with little or no results. Dealer has now ordered a new "clutch pack" and will install later this week. In response to the thoughts of starting the car in manual mode etc. the car has the same issue in manual or non. It appears that the previous owner has some "issues" maybe he/she thought they could use the launch feature on a US car, clutch damage at 18k miles is pretty crazy. I was also under the impression that the computer wouldnt allow the DSG do be damaged. Whatever the case it will be interesting to find out if this is a factory or user caused problem.

pity... cause deep in the mechatronics is the chip you have to swap out to ENABLE the launch control feature....

I have heard of a few cases where DSGs seem to go thru clutch systems pretty fast... but was never able to chase down whether it was due to faulty DSGs or driver abuse.
