APR 93 octane...but cant find any gas

I agree, 87 Octane at sea level in a pinch might be OK. However,
I'm regularly at 6500~7500' elevation, very rarely dropping to 6000'. Using
major brand 87 octane in the last couple of tanks has not produced any
ping/knock whatsoever. Mind you, it has been a cautious experiment and I've not
pushed the car hard. But even when the turbo kicks in on that last uphill
stretch to the house I've not noticed loss of power or complaining sounds
emanating from under the hood. It would be nice to see exactly how the numbers
came out by hooking up a laptop with VAG s/w - if I had it available.

The tsb doesn't mention sea level in the equation....
It would indeed be interesting to hookup and see what the numbers were.
Has your gas consumption stayed the same? I wonder because in a previous (non turbo) vehicle rated for regular (87, here) that had a knock issue, I found that it got about the same miles per dollar - so that 8 gals of mid-grade (89) would take me as far as 10 gals of regular.
Do you drive stick or automatic?
