Oil Change

Basically, the more often you do it, the better for your engine.
Jake
Thanks, Jake.
The Audi dealer I consulted about the oil
change told me, after punching the VIN number in their Audi system that the service
that followed the 20,000-mile one done upon delivery when I bought my 2004 3.2,
is not due until it reaches 35,000 miles. - I thought that was too long! My contact at the dealer did add that the car
computer would show when the next service is due, but that it was up to me if I
wanted to have the oil changed in between
(who sets the trip computer?).
Then, someone mentioned that by changing
the oil every 3,000 miles you have an engine for ever. . .
Another Audi dealer (following same VIN procedure)
said the next service was due at 28,000 miles. . . All over the place!
Your advice is well appreciated and wise “the
more often . . . the better for the
engine”.
So, my conclusion is that the oil change
schedule is not set in stone and it is more a judgement based on a number of
things, but primarily on driving style and as a good practice for engine preservation.
