I've been dealing with this for three years. It's not easy to get inside and clear this, so I have fashioned a hook that makes it easy to remove when it blocks the dash bound vents. This problem is not specific to the TT, but also other Audi models too. After the foam falls away, the adhesive backing peels away too.
