New tt owner! Boost ?'s
Up to Audi TT Forum
Hi i just joined and have had my tt for 3 weeks and i love it.
It's a 2000 quattro aviator grey, 35% tint all around!
I have a few questions, What is stock boost? How high can i raise it with a manual boost controller on an all stock motor and good ideas for placing a boost guage that won't look tacky?
Thanks, Alec
Do you have the 5spd or 6spd? They have different turbos in them. The more powerful K04 in the 6spd makes about 17 peak and 15 hold at stock... I wouldn't do a manual boost controller, the stock turbo doesn't respond the best from that, I'd go with any one of the tuning packages. I have the APR 93 octane tune and I peak at about 23-34 and hold 22 through all gears. Also, I have a boost gauge mounted very cleanly in the left A/C vent and it looks really great and is a very popular option: http://www.awe-tuning.com/media/products/awe/mk2_tt/vent_gauge/AWE_mk2TT_ventgauge_close_800.jpg
Enjoy!

+1 on getting a tune and a boost gauge! Definately improves performance with the tune, and the gauge is helpful knowing what's going on. I also suggest a good DV valve - like a Forge 007 with a spring kit.
One word of advice, the AWE gauge is $200. I ordered one and after being charged and waiting weeks, I finally cancelled my order and bought an EVO gauge and an MKII gauge pod and tubing kit for $75 from TT Stuff. It took a minor modification to fit my MKI but the outcome is the same for far less money. It took me another 2 weeks to get my refund from AWE btw...
With my Forge DV and a yellow spring (2/4 stiffness - green is stock) and a GIAC tune I also was able to get boot peaks into the 22-23 range and hold a lot better.
Have fun!
Thanks much guys and i have the five spd quattro! i did not know they made that year with a 6 spd.
I have also been looking at the APR 93 octane tune. If i get that will i have to get anything else done or is it a solidly built Motor?
And for the vent gauge i will be picking one up next paycheck i hope!
Alec.
