TT or Z3
Up to Audi TT Forum
yes i know im asking on the Audi Page but i was wondering if some of you guys can give me some insight on the TT Roadster, i have heard the timing belt issue at 60k some electrical problems ect but other then that i really like the way this car looks, im looking for a used 225 TT 1.8Q 6 speed for around $10k what do you guys think the ones i have been looking at are 2001 and 2002's with right around 100k for milage. and info would be greatly appreciated.
- I'd go with a 2002 or later to avoid the early production issues althought there were not that many.
- Change the timing belt and water pump every 60K or 5 years
- The TTR is less expensive than a Z3 of the same year = better value
- The TT had lower production numbers toan the Z3 so it will be more distinctive on the road
- Z3 does not have quattro
- TTR has a larger and more useful trunk than the Z3
- Z3 of that era has a plastic rear window which is an expensive PIA
i have another question, what about the clutch... have you seen any DIY's about how to change the clutch? because its looks like a Pain..! but other then that i really like the TT's...
I agree... and the z3 is dated looking. I really like the z4 now, but its going to run quite a bit more than $10,000. I say go with the TT and that is my honest, unbiased opinion.

if the audi is stock the oem clutch will be there for you until @ least 180K then if replacing the same should still be around 1K installed 2002 is a better year as most TT Q had bose 6 CD changer heated seats bi-xeon headlights 17" rims the instrument cluster was also a problem.
