There are reliable places where you can still do very well on pricing for a timing belt replacement. A small shop here in Tucson (I've found them to be professional, reliable, and communicative), just did my timing belt, water pump, tensioners AND serpentine belt for $775 all in, incl. tax! Engine sure is less clattery (probably worn tensioners).
