TT OEM Boot Cover

Just brought a boot cover and having fun "fitting" the thing. The issue is clipping down the retainers on each side of the boot cover. The mechanism looks fine, the cover looks fine, but they keep popping up. Is this a common fault - any tips on fitting?

I have a new TT on order, but a boot cover was never mentioned to me as an option. I do believe the car needs one for a cleaner look with the top down. I thought I would just wait for the clubsport iteration and order the cover with the bullet headrests. But it's nice to know there is something out there already. Do you know the part number and the price for this cover?

A 2007 Mk2 Audi TT - most cool! Unfortunately my post was referring to Mk1's. The Mk'1's came with boot cover as standard, but when buying used MK 1's, the boot may have gone walk abouts as mine had.
Enjoy your new TT! Suspect that boot cover will come with it, if one exists.

if the boot cover is fitted properly, of course, the ends should snap down and stay down. Be sure the leading edge of the boot is tucked behind the top of the bulkhead (that hides the windscreen). See pic bleow.
I understand from that the Mk 2 TT will not need the boot cover -- the top is supposed to fold in a z-pattern, so the front edge stays "right side up" (as opposed to the current design, where the top portion is turned over). This provides a "cleaner look" (like the Boxter) so the boot cover has been eliminated. See Edmunds review linked below (and other reviews such as Motor Trend, etc).

Many thanks. Yep it is all tooked in properly, just does not seem to lock down easily. I think it is the mechanism - not sure.

Thanks for your response and best wishes about my TT on order. If you do a search for the TT Clubsport, you will see the panels that I am speaking about. They are similar to the panels on a 1961 classic Thunderbird. They look really nice, and if they are going to be available, I certainly will consider them.
