Wow! That doesn't sound good. I think the stealership should be able to diagnose your problem by just hearing that start up....and hopefully an easy fix.

I wouldn't let that go for much longer.....good luck!

let us know what it was

cheers

More details are needed for a more accurate diagnosis. Is the A/C on (Climate control set to "AUTO"?, is the car in neutral?, or in gear with the clutch pedal depressed?

No, the A/C isnt on, not set to auto, car out of gear. ONLY makes the noise when starting cold. But once the car is started, it will only do it again once it sits and is dead cold again. I have aprox. 93K on my car, and The timing belt is in need of change. I dont know how it has made it after i have read all these other stories about their TT's. But i know the belt need to be changed b/c it's slips here and there for a min after i start it. Could that loud noise POSSIBLY be the timing belt? And on top of all of this, My engine coolant has a very slow leak, And the dealer ordered a hose the last time it was in. It should be in anyday and will do the timing belt then. But also, there was a biiiig puddle of pink fluid under my car this morning. Its not the coolant. I checked the level and its not the same color. So im guessing the power stearing, or brake fluid is now leaking. what do you all think it is? ... jesus, sometimes I think I have a lemon.

A tranny leak could constitue a pink fluid under your car. I would take your car in as soon as possible to get atleast a diag on it and DEFINITELY replace the timing belt. Save yourself the 5k.
