Power window reset....

Posted by fizzle017 at November 09. 2006
If any one has ever had work done to their TT by an independent garage and got there car back and the windows did not go down a half inch when you opened the doors and the auto up/down didn't work, It is because when you take the battery off, you lose your window memory, here is the fix.
-Start the engine
-open the driver side door (car still running)
-with door open push the button to make the windows go down, then up, then down, then up, then down, then up,(three times) and when the window is all the up for the third time, let go of the button, and immediatly hold the button up again for five seconds.
You will know if it works because the window will go down a half inch, where it is sopposed to be in the first place.
I have done it and it works!
Hope this helps.

Great info! I haven't had the problem, but if I ever do, I'll follow your tip!

THANKS!

That window function has not been working on my car for a few months. I just did as you described and the window now drops a quarter of an inch as it should. Very cool. Thanks for the tip!

Thanks for the great advice.

After I replaced my battery and my driver's side window didn't lower upon opening.

I began your process but the results were direct for me: the first time I pressed the window up fully with the engine running and door open, the window automatically reset itself and dropped.

I followed your complete procedure just to be sure; now the door functions as it should.

I hope more people have the same luck that I did; I would hate the thought I needed to take the dorr apart to fix this apparently simple fault.
