Convertible Top Window Fell Out
Up to Audi TT Forum
I have a 2001 TT Roadster that has been religioulsy garaged and has only 36K miles. After sitting in the florida sun, the back window separated from the cloth top. It appears as if the glue malfunctioned. The dealer tells me this is not a common problem and it would cost $3,200 to replace as the window cannot be re-attached. Even though my warranty has recently expired, I feel this is a defective situation. If I cannot get relief from Audi, I am considering a local car shop who says they can replace for $900. Has anyone had this problem or replaced the top in the secondary market?
WOW i READ in another one where someone needed glue to re do it, mine is tinted 2001 roadster, and no problemo.. But personally I would garage it, and use gorilla glue, which expands....so u have to watch it, and use a moist wet cloth to get excess, but if u use it, I promise, it sticks everything together.,. my adive, but I am a chick, LOL, but i use the glue, on furniture, etc.. good luck and let us know..

I have the same problem but the window is only 40% detached so far. I will try to glue it, and let everyone know how it went.
My car is also garaged most of the day (home/work).

but I have heard of a few other cases. Experts have said it is impossible to just replace/fix only the window. You have to replace the entire top. Someone had a really good post on replacing the top in the AudiWorld TT forum within the past month so you can search there for the pros and cons of various replacement tops. My car is garaged only in the evening with no winodw problems with my 2001 in this nasty heat.
Hi,
I just bought my TT a few days ago (at a place that offers no warranty and was purchased "as is". I too, am having the same problem with my window, though fortunatetly it's not COMPLETELY off, but I think it could be any day now, and I'm afraid to put the top down in case it'll just make it worse!
Any suggestions would be GREATLY apprecited!
