fuel gauge problemsPosted by keluk300 at March 04. 2006
i have my TT for about a year, and ever since i've had a problem with the fuel gauge. when i fill it up with fuel the needle on the gauge goes up past full, and the trip computer gives a reading of approx 320 miles (514km). when the fuel gauge goes down to half the fuel warning light comes on with 25 miles(40km) left in the tank. has anyone had this problem and if so can you please help me end my PROBLEM. thanks

it could be the beginnings of an instrument cluster failure or fuel sending units(there are two total) are failing.

Hey keluk. I've at the same problem with my TT ever since i bought it. It's been about 2 years now. There doesn't seem to be a problem with the gauge in terms of relative and consistent performance. It seems the trip computer is consistently accurate. I pretty much also assume that as the needle goes past half way we're pretty much getting close to empty. Don't chance it by seeing how far down the gauge it goes. If the warning light comes on, u need to fill up. I have yet to find an actual solution. It's more of an annoyance than an actual problem.

I'm having the same issue, any fixes found?

Had the exact same problem and took it into the dealership today. They replaced the instrument cluster and that fixed the problem. If the "senders" were bad your computer would be giving you false information on fuel such as miles left until fill up or time to refuel. A good way to tell is If you are filling your tank up using less money (alot less) then it's your senders.
