Timing belt ruined my engine
Up to Audi TT Forum
" truly am mystified with Audi America, here in Australia, Audi recommend timing belt change out at 90,000klms (note Kilometres) which equates to approx 54,000 miles. They also recommend after 4 years, so not only does distance covered become a factor, but also age."
maybe because your engine runs backwards south of the equator, lol
Seriously: I had an electrical problem after I was two months off warranty. Service manager told me to call Audi and they would probably cover it under something I think he called "1 time goodwill" or something like that. He told me this before I even brought the car in and had no clue what it could be. After questioning him a little more about calling Audi, he said "don't worry about it, I will call Audi, just bring it in". Not too bad since I bought my TT from the other dealer in town. He did say when I picked it up that I have used up my "1 time"

My maintenance manual says to change the belt at 120,000 miles. Let's see what will Audi say when I present that to the judge.
wifestoleyourTT, no wonder,
I really just can't fathom the criptic and non specific answers you Yanks come up with - get to the Farkin point for once!
Oh, and no offence taken with the counter rotation thing, we can laugh at ourselves with you, try it sometime.
And also seriously, Audi Australia seems such a far cry from Audi USA, Audi Oz are extremely helpful and aim to keep return customers - is this the same company? I think not. Perhaps it's the conversion from klms to miles that confuses the hierachy?
When are you guys going to join the rest of the world and go metric anyway?, come on.
You started it with currency, oh so simple, carry it over with engineering too. 16oz in a lb etc, so stupid even the POM's realised that in the end.

hello i jumped over the audiworld because fadi wrote that someone else had a broken timing belt, mine broke last weds. i have tracked down the lawyer who brought a class action suit against audi for broken a4 belts. in the end audi paid for the cost of replacement.there is an article in the globe also explaining what happened. i also have the letter sent. i am not sure if fadi has gotten any info from you. i plan to hear from the attorney in phily hopefully today, and i will ask him if you can foward your info to him.
lets all gat together and fight this thing! I am ready pleas e mail me with any info at whap69@aol.com.
