Clutch Recall 3.2 TT
Up to Audi TT Forum
The car is back and still shakes. It will go back to the dealer to assess the suspension, wheel balance, etc.when I get back from Charleston in two weeks.I am really loosing patience and my dream car is turning into a nightmare.
Winch, i will borrow a friends vag-com this weekend and check it out. I did check the production sticker though. It reads 7/03 so we are in the proper age for the recall. You know, I did check out the LC awhile ago and it was a no go. I think I might have did it wrong. Sequence should be; dissengage ESP, hold brake with left foot, rev to 3500rpm then let it rip. Is this correct?
I'll let you know either way.

I think you also need to be sure your stick is in Sport mode. Send news!

I have a 3.2 that was delivered in October 2003 (they told me it was the first one east of the Miss. river - probably BS but who knows) Launch control never worked in this car. I doubt if it ever was operational in US models. I had the clutch recall performed in early 2004 after receiving a message in the mail from Audi. When I contacted the dealer they didn't even know about it. It took two weeks in the shop as they had to wait for parts from Audi after they started. The car runs great. I wouldn't worry as long as you trust your dealer mechanics.
ALmost forgot. Regarding your shimmy problem. I live in Boston - pothole capital. My winter rims and tires took a beating this year. I bought a new left front rim to replace one with an obvious dent. The car still 'shimmied' around 80 mph - (I know - so sue me) I had the dealer rotate the tires and the problem went away. I think I still have a dented rim on the right side but now its in the rear and is not causing too much problem. If you are running snow tires like I am and haven't tried rotating them - see if that helps.
First off, no LC. I tried on Saturday and it was a no go; revs drop off after about 2000rpm.
Second, about trusting the Audi techs. Since this would be their first attempt at the recall, I remain leary. I probably will do the recall.
The dealer did rotate the tires to alleviate the shimmy, to no avail. It will be going back to Audi when I get back from Charleston next week. It is either in the balance of the wheels or one (or two) of the wheels are out of round.
We'll see.

The Bobsled is now shimmy free. After Audi techs could'nt do any thing, I went for a high speed balance and was told the the P-zero rossis were shot and at 3/32". So I put new Toyo Proxies on and ....... no vibrations. Simple solution for $800.00.
I was getting too the point of selling my TT but now I'm back at happy!
