I have the same problem - did you get yours fixed?

I'm glad I'm not alone in the problems of my 2001 Audi TT Quattro. I started having issues with my fuel reading a few months ago. At first I though it was just me, but when you fill up with fuel, the gauge shows way past full and when you get to about 1/2 tank, the miles to empty (which are very accurate, as I tested it once and actually glided into a fuel station after the engine ran out of gas) show less 100 miles to empty. The low fuel light seems to be accurate also. A few weeks later, I thought I was running HOT on engine temp. I actually thought I was having real cooling problems and since I was at 100k mileage, I put in a new steel impellor water pump, along with new timing belt and new thermostat. All of which I did need done anyway, but the temp maintained showing very high. After reading thought hours of different forums about the same issue, I finally used the following link to verify my engine and cooling system temp. http://video.aol.com/video-detail/audi-tt-climatronic-climate-control-panel-codes-unlocking-t/302016129 I am now sure that I'm running in the normal range of cooling system temp, but now have faulty fuel, and temp gauges, plus only about 1/2 of the LED's show in the middle section of the engine cluster, which from what I have read, are symptoms of a faulty instrument cluster. This does not make me feel better, as I have not seen or heard of a recall by Audi on this what I gather is a somewhat common problem. While I have enjoyed my Audi TT these last 2 years, it is a safe for me to say, this will be my last Audi auto. There are just way too many issues and not enough corrective measures by Audi, or Audi of America. I always thought that German automakers were one of the best in the world, but it looks all too common in the auto industry to sale something that they do not stand behind.

My tach is dead, but the other gauges are fine. I tested it on a vag-com and it did not respond, so I guess it's a mechanical issue. I know you can't just throw any old cluster in it and have it work, so I'll probably just send it to modulemaster for the $160 rebuild (they refurb all 4 whether you need it or not). I hate to not be able to drive it for a while, but I know it has to stay powered down the whole time the cluster is out. Lame.

I have not bothered to take it to a dealer... it's an '01 with 115K and I'm the third owner so I know it's not under warranty.

Michelle, I'm in the same situation as you. Did you get your cluster fixed and did it fix the problems. I really don't want to just throw money at the car, but I recently did replace the timing belt and water pump. I have gotten used to none of my instruments working correctly, but what happens if something really does happen, I would never know.
