More Cold Weather Stuff

First of all, I'm a Californian... Being that I live in Sacramento, we do get seasons, but winter basically means 40 - 50 degree weather with some occasional heavy rain. I run summer tires year-round...
However, I've been exploring other places to live for a number of reasons, and one of the places that has been under consideration has been the New England area, particularly southern New Hampshire.
Clearly that would be a major change of climate.
I know that in that environment some people probably garage their roadsters for the winter months, but I'd rather not. If I'm going to move somewhere, I'd like to be able to use my car there year-round. From some threads going on here, it does appear that the TT can handle snow and ice, but I would need appropriate tires.
But there's a difference between a Chicago snow storm and a brutal Nor'easter... Can anyone give me more information?
Thanks...

Hello douglorenz:
First of all, are you crazy? Why would you want to go from sunny CA to NH? Oh well. Even though I live in Chicago, I’m a little bit familiar with New England winters. I think the only problem you might have is to watch the ground clearance in heavy snowfalls. But once the plows do their thing, and with a good set of snow tires the TT will perform admirably. Good luck………

Hi Doug... Gotta tell ya, I LIVE in NE and I am also a bit stymied as to WHY you would leave such a temperate climate for the COLD/MESS of WINTER in NE. But, be that as it may, the seasons changing are nice I guess, it's just WINTER that I hate!!! And, it's not the snow either, it's the aftermath, the mess, SAND/SALT/SLUSH... stupid drivers throwing GIANT rooster-tails of crap at your car... Sorry... got carried away for a moment. Anyway, I am fortunate in that I put my TT away until the roads are nice, dry, and clear. I use my A4 Avant as my daily driver, but I can tell you this: You will have NO PROBLEM driving your TT over here. As was previously mentioned, after the plows come through, smooth sailing, no issues... besides the afore-mentioned typical NE WINTER CRAP!!!! Oh, and the PITA that goes along with freezing temperatures, such as the thread regarding the FROZEN "Aliens"...! Otherwise, NE, you gotta love it!

Aw come on folks, living in New England is just no big deal. I moved from the SF Bay area to western Massachusetts and don't regret it. The winters are beautiful, roads are well maintained in the winter, and driving in a TT is a breeze with winter tires.
Hi drvr8... If you carefully read my post, you will notice that it's not the driving in NE during winter I hate, it's the MESS!!! Perhaps you enjoy SAND/SALT/DIRT/CRUD all over your car, but I certainly don't. How about driving on the highway when the DOT truck blows by throwing/spreading a SALT/SAND mixture... then you sit in your car counting the paint chips as the little ROCKS hit your car... THAT'S what I can't stand. But, agreed, NE is beautiful, from April to November anyway!
I have lived here all my life, and have no regrets. It's just tough to try and maintain ones car during the winter storms...
