Grand Cherokee Commercial
Up to Audi TT Forum
Has anyone seen the commercial were a black Audi TT and BMW 3 Series are driving on a racetrack with a 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee (CG for short) with a Hemi engine? Well if you haven’t, they are claiming that the 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee is faster than an Audi TT and a BMW 3 Series. But let's concentrate on the TT for obvious reasons though.
If you have a Tivo and pressed pause as the fine print comes up on the screen you'll notice that it says 2005 Audi TT Coupe with AT6. They are referring to the 6-speed Tiptronic transmition of the 1.8 Turbo engine with 180 hp that takes the TT from 0 to 60 in 7.8 seconds. They should have compared it to the roadster version that goes from 0 to 60 in 8.1 seconds to make them selves look even better. But all that could be taken care of with a simple chip anyway.
But whom the heck are they kidding? The GC doesn’t win any awards in styling, even the newly restyled version, and I'm sure it never will. Don't get me wrong, it's a good American SUV but that's not my cup of tea right now. Although if and when it is the GC wont be on my list, the Q7 will. The thing is they mentioned the CG in the same sentence as the TT. That's like comparing a kindergartens water painting to Rembrandt or Picasso.
I'm not even worried about it because I have the 3.2. So I can’t wait to surprise the heck out of a GC with a Hemi that will try to race me. I'll not only waste him but he'll waste about 5 dollars in gas in the process because it only goes from 0 to 60 in 7.0 seconds. That's good for an SUV but to compare it to a TT? Please.
But there are some forums out there that don't know better. Just check the following links out and have a good laugh at them...Thanks for letting me vent people.

A guy over on audiworld raced a new jeep w/ his 225HP and smoked him by 4 cars lengths. The guy in the jeep was really suprised when he found out it was the 1.8T mow the V6 model.
I must agree... that commercial is absolutely, positively, laughable!!!! I remember the first time I saw it, I did like a double take when I saw the JC running in FRONT of the TT... yeah, right. Dream on!!!!
Hey, as a TT owner I am flattered that Daimler Chrysler used a TT to try to enhance the image of their Grand Cherokee, as ridiculous as that commercial is. Notice they didn’t use a Mercedes.
