I have such a love/hate relationship with this car. When it's not being repaired(most of the time) it is an absolute pleasure to drive. Still receive compliments nearly every time out on its' appearence. (Dolomite grey with saddle baseball optic interior). Problem is, mechanically it can't seem to stay together. All the crap plastic and rubber that the Germans insist on using deteriorates under the high heats under the hood. Have replaced all hoses and belts and half of the plastic connections. The timing belt went out before 65K and required an engine rebuild. No satisfaction or reimbursement from Audi despite the "settlement" Just recently, replaced one coil went it failed, asked my mechanic if we shouldn't replace the other three at the same time. His reply "The others may never go bad. No sense in replacing them all." Guess what failed three weeks later. Replaced the rest. Without looking at the substantial pile of repair/service records, I can't begin to remember the total list of replaced/repaired parts. It could be I ended up with a "lemon", but reading the posts of other "01" TT owners, it doesn't seem to be the case. Rather just the opposite. I will never advise anyone to buy one of these, but on the other hand, until I can't stand to fix it anymore, I'll continue to drive it. Fortunately, I don't have to rely on it as my only transportation.
